Dear ISBM Members, Friends, and Colleagues,

In this newsletter, we are thrilled to share our member news as well as the latest developments for the upcoming congress of our society!  The XVIth Congress of the International Society of Bone Morphometry will be held in Toronto, Canada from Sept 30th to Oct 3rd, 2024, immediately after the ASBMR meeting.

The core mission of the ISBM is to educate and train clinicians and scientists in all aspects of bone morphometry, to provide a forum for experts and trainees to share and develop their research, to set standards within the field for skeletal imaging and analysis, and to advance novel therapies to support lifelong skeletal health. This includes histologic, tomographic, and other advanced imaging modalities for basic, translational, and clinical studies in skeletal tissues. See below for links to the ISBM 2024 meeting website and a spotlight on our invited keynote speaker, Dr. Chris Hernandez. 🗣️🔦 We hope to see you in Toronto in 2024!

Sincerely,
Elizabeth Zimmerman, Joel Boerckel, and Frank Ko

ISBM Research Spotlight

The Bone-Muscle Research Center at UTA is led by Dr. Marco Brotto. It brings together researchers with complementary expertise in bone, muscle, neuronal, and vascular biology. This includes Applied, Basic, Translational, and Clinical scientists working together with chemists, engineers, and computational biologists to find new answers to old and new questions and using highly-innovative, integrative, and inter-transdisciplinary approaches to find new cures, and to promote longer and healthier living. ISBM Member Awards

Congratulations to ISBM Executive Board member Dr. Lilian Plotkin for receiving the PAULA STERN ACHIEVEMENT AWARD. The ASBMR Paula Stern Achievement Award annually recognizes a woman in the bone field who has made significant scientific achievements and who has promoted the professional development/advancement of women in the field. The award will be presented during the ASBMR conference.
Congratulations to ISBM Scientific Leadership Committee member Dr. Miguel Castilho for receiving the JEAN LERAY AWARD. The Jean Leray award is established by the European Society for Biomaterials to recognize, encourage and stimulate outstanding research contributions to the field of biomaterials by early-career scientists. The nominee must have contributed significantly to the knowledge in the field of biomaterials through basic, experimental and/or clinical research. The award will be presented during the ESB conference.
