Masaki Noda is Emeritus Professor, Tokyo Medical and Dental University in Tokyo, Japan. He received his M.D. degree from Tokyo Medical and Dental University, Tokyo, Japan in 1977 and obtained his Ph.D. degree in 1984 from Tokyo Medical and Dental University. After graduation from the medical school, he was trained in Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Tokyo Medical and Dental University, during 1977 to1980. Then, he was Fulbright (Japan-United State Educational Program) Fellowship Grantee for the period of 1983 to 1985, when he was Postgraduate Research Fellow at Department of Oral Biology in University of Connecticut. He became Postdoctoral Fellow at Department of Bone Biology and Osteoporosis Research at Merck Research Laboratories during 1985 and 1987. Subsequently, he served as Research Fellow at Merck Research Laboratories during 1987 and 1991 and then became Professor at Tokyo Medical and Dental University in 1991. He served as Director of Medical Research Institute, Tokyo Medical and Dental University during 2005 to 2009 and President of Yokohama City Minato Red Cross Hospital during 2018 to 2019. In 1987 he received Young Investigator Awards from ASBMR and he received Special Award from Japanese Society for Bone and Mineral Research in 2003. He was IBMS Board Member during 2003-2009 and was ASBMR Council Member during 2009 to 2012. He was Associate Editor of Bone and Journal of Bone and Mineral Metabolism. He was the recipient of Gideon A. Rodan Excellence in Mentorship Award of ABMR in 2017. Dr. Noda has been working in the field of bone and mineral metabolism since 1981. He has been involved in the basic research on the regulation of osteoblastic function during the last 30 years. His current research is focused on the mechanisms underlying the determination of osteoblastic function in adult to regulate the levels of bone mass in osteoporosis models. He is a member of several national and international scientific societies and has published over 140 original articles in peer-reviewed journals.
